Special Needs Kids

A Community-Based Program Providing Special Programming for Special Kids and Special Families

It could easily be said that each child at the Institute is a special needs kid because each of them comes with a unique set of characteristics and difficulties. Some are developmentally delayed, some have emotional disorders, some have behavioral disorders, some have learning disorders, some have attention disorders, some are physically handicapped, some have mood disorders, some are autistic, some are neglected, some are physically and/or sexually abused, and many have multiple disorders.

Programming for Special Needs Kids blends systemic treatment with the child, parents, and family with psycho-education, experiential programs and case management with medical and school personnel to provide a comprehensive and congruent process to address and manage the child’s disorder across all systems. By utilizing all the Institute’s program resources, we are able to maximize services and behaviors and assist parents and children in making changes which directly affect positive outcomes.

To further address the needs of these children and their families, the Institute provides psycho-educational and support groups for parents and behavior modification, socialization, and experiential groups for children. Parents learn more about their child’s disorder and acquire skills for improved management of their special needs kid. Kids learn more about themselves and develop trust, respect, self-control, self confidence, competence, anger management, and positive social interaction.
