Our Staff

Diane A. Burks is the Founder, Executive Director and Clinical Director of the Indianapolis Institute. She is a graduate of Hanover College and Butler University and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor and a Certified Clinical Forensic Counselor. Diane has 23 years experience in the treatment of children and families, with specialization in the treatment of childhood abuse and neglect, trauma, and special needs youth and adolescents. Diane also developed the Institute's experiential Healing with Horses/Equine Assisted Treatment program, which serves children, adolescents and families.

Gloria L. Hood, Senior Associate Therapist with the Indianapolis Institute For Families is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Social Worker. Her Master's Degree is in Marriage and Family Therapy from Butler University. Her undergraduate Degree is in Social Work from Goshen College. Gloria has worked as a therapist at the Institute for sixteen years specializing in services for families of abuse and neglect. Prior to this she worked for seven years with adolescents and their families with a runaway youth shelter and with the Juvenile Justice system.

Kelly S. Benedict, Senior Clinical Associate, is a graduate of Milligan College and Indiana State University. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and has been with the Indianapolis Institute for Families since her internship in October, 1989. In the last 16 years, Kelly has treated trauma victims and their families, children with ADHD, Bipolar Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorder and adult survivors. Currently, Kelly is focusing part of her practice with adoptive families who are raising children with trauma issues and Reactive Attachment Disorder. Kelly serves on the board of I-PAN, the Indiana Post Adoption Network.

Heather A. Eberth-Teike, Clinical Associate with the Indianapolis Institute for Families, holds a Master of Social Work Degree from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Indianapolis. Heather is also a Licensed Social Worker. She has experience in family and marital counseling as well expertise in special needs youth, adolescents, and teens with emotional and behavioral problems. Heather has assisted in developing and implementing the Healing with Horses/Equine Assisted Treatment program and is dually credentialed as a licensed mental health provider and equine specialist.

Emily E. Perry, Director of Special Programs and Clinical Associate with the Indianapolis Institute for Families, holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from Indiana University and a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Sociology from Hanover College. Emily is also a licensed social worker. She has extensive experience in the field of child welfare and child protection with previous positions held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Portland, Oregon; and Shelbyville, Indiana. Emily has successfully completed Finding Words Indiana and is trained in Forensic Interviewing.

Jody W. Tucker, Clinical Associate received a Master of Social Work Degree from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Hanover College. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Jody has extensive experience in the community mental health field working with adults and joins our group eager to work with adults, families and children.

Jennifer Disbro, Clinical Associate received a Master of Social Work Degree from Indiana University. She has several years experience in the community mental health field. She is currently a group facilitator for the Indianapolis Institute.

Jennifer Fuqua, Clinical Associate holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Hanover College in Sociology. She works in the community mental health field. She is currently a group facilitator for children at the Indianapolis Institute.

Eric Fuqua, Clinical Associate hold a Bachelor's Degree. He works in the community mental health field with disabled adults. He is a group facilitator for children at the Indianapolis Institute.

Jessica Kramer, Business Manager received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Hanover College. She has experience in marketing, project management and sales. At the Indianapolis Institute, Jessica focuses on accounts receivable, office management and operations.
 
 

Stephanie Wells, Administrative Assistant, is currently a student working with us on a co-operative program through her school. She is interested in pursuing a career in social work.
